Welcome to Mortimer and Burghfield Toy Library!

‘Birds fly, fish swim and children play’

A quote by Gary Landreth

At Mortimer and Burghfield Toy Library, we believe in the joy of play for every child and the power of sharing resources in our community. Our toy library offers a wide selection of high-quality, age-appropriate toys, games, and puzzles that families can borrow, much like books from a traditional library.

If you like the idea of joining our Toy Library family, please come and see what we offer. If you like what you see you can register face to face with us on your first visit - but with no obligation.

Please do not register on here for an online account, as we currently do not offer this service.

What We Offer

We cater to children from newborn to age 5, providing:

Educational and developmental toys

Fun games for family bonding

Outdoor toys for active play

Puzzles and Role Play

By borrowing instead of buying, families can introduce their children to new experiences without the cost and clutter of owning every toy.

How It Works

1. Membership: Join the library for a small annual fee, which helps us maintain and expand our collection.

2. Browse & Borrow: Browse our catalog online for an idea of what we can offer and then visit us in person to chose and                      borrow toys

3. Play & Return: Enjoy the toys for one month, then return them to exchange for something new!

Why Choose Us?

  • Cost-effective: Save money by borrowing instead of purchasing expensive toys.

Sustainable: Reduce waste by sharing toys within the community.

Community-focused: Meet other families and participate in special events.

When are we open?

  • We usually run on the 4th Saturday of the month and our doors are open between 9.30am - 11.00am
  • We are based at Mortimer Methodist Church Hall in a central village location

What other information is there?

  • You can take away up to 15 toys each session
  • We offer a free membership for families who receive financial support through benefits
  • Otherwise there is just a £20 annual fee
  • Please bring address ID in order to register
  • The hall has its own car park and we are situated on the number 2 bus route from Reading
  • We currently only take cash but there is a handy cash point just across the road

Explore a world of play for your little ones while supporting a sustainable and connected community.
